Our approachMost Montreal SMBs we meet already have “a backup”: an external drive someone plugs in on Fridays, a sync folder, or the retention Microsoft 365 provides by default. None of those will bring a business back after ransomware, a fire or a laptop stolen from a car. A real backup solution answers three questions before anything happens: what is protected, how far back can we go, and how long will it take to be operational again.
Three copies of your data, on two different media, with one copy off-site. For a 10 to 100 person company that means a fast local copy on a NAS or appliance for same-day restores, plus an encrypted copy in Canadian cloud storage that no one in the office can delete or encrypt by mistake. We add a fourth element: one of those copies is immutable, so even an attacker with administrator rights cannot touch it.
The RPO is how much work you can afford to lose: one hour, one day, one week. The RTO is how long you can be down before the damage becomes permanent. A law office that bills by the hour and a workshop that invoices at month end do not need the same plan. We write both numbers in your contract and we test against them, so the monthly price reflects your real risk rather than a generic package.

A backup is a copy of your data. Disaster recovery is the documented plan and the infrastructure that put your business back to work from that copy: who does what, in which order, on which hardware, and in how many hours. A backup without a recovery plan is a hard drive full of hope.
